Fortnight-long cleanliness drive to be launched tomorrow at Salem Division

The Divisional Manager of Salem Division, Southern Railways, Hari Shankar Verma, today hoisted the Tricolour and inspected the guard of honour at the Division Office on the eve of the 71st Independence Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Verma recalled the sacrifices made by the leaders and the martyrs during the freedom struggle. A fortnight-long cleanliness campaign would begin on August 16 at all the station falling under the Salem Division. “This is to ensure better cleanliness in the stations and to create awareness among the public,” he said.

The Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, would dedicate the extended foot over bridge connecting to the second entry of Salem junction, the new VIP lounge, Station Master room at the Salem Junction and the new foot over bridge at Samalpatti station through video conferencing on August 19, Verma added.
