The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University will support entrepreneurs who are willing to obtain licence from the university to manufacture and sell the products made by it, according to S. Mohan, Professor of Entomology.

Talking to The Covai Post, Mohan said many useful products of the university are unable to reach the public due to lack of awareness among the public. “I hold patent rights for two of the eight patented products of the university – TNAU Stack Probe Trap and TNAU Insect Egg Remover. The two products will be of great use to remove insects from stored grains. It will be very useful at shops and households that stock rice or pulses (upto 150 kg),” he said.

Unfortunately people do not know about the availability of these products. We need more people who can market these products, Mohan added.

According to the professor, the Assam Government gave subsidy to its farmers to buy the TNAU Automatic Insect Remover Bin. “With the help of the bin, the farmers are able to store the grains for a longer period of time. The Tamil Nadu Government too should support our farmers in procuring these products.”

A resident of Coimbatore, whom this correspondent spoke to said not many people knew about the TNAU products and the outlets where they are being sold.
