“Indian architecture should be taken to global levels,” Vaiko said, at the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Builders Association of India (BAI) Coimbatore, which was held at the SNR Arts and Science College auditorium.

While speaking at the event, Vaiko, the MDMK General Secretary said, “Architecture excels in all the places where human civilization first began to grow. I have been to the Parliaments of various countries like the United States, Australia, and Switzerland, but none of them has the intricacies and grandeur that the Indian Parliament complex has. Babylon is regarded as the oldest city in the world. But a recent research by Channel 4 has revealed that our very own Kaveripoompattinam is the oldest city with the most ancient and beautiful buildings.

Architecture and construction engineering has scaled new dimensions today. After agriculture, construction industry employs the most number of workers in India. Even when the rest of the world was living in jungles and hunting animals for food, Indians had already started enjoying delicacies and exporting artifacts to other countries.

“Every state in India has its own list of forts of its illustrious kings. You wont find any in Tamil Nadu because they have all been destroyed. Our architectural skills have grown to such levels that the rest of the world looks at us in awe. The marine architecture capabilities of the Cholas were the envy of all. Such architectural prowess should be highlighted across the world. This will increase tourism and generate more revenue for the nation. Architecture is in the blood of Tamilians,” he said. so that we can attract more tourists and gain more revenue out of tourism.”

Senior architect Ramani Shankar; Vice President of the All India Architects Association’s South India chapter, Fasal Ali; President of the Tamilnadu and Pondicherry chapters of BAI, Ragunathan; and the platinum jubilee committee chief Muthuswamy; and members of the management committee and the association were among the participants.
