BJP Tamil Nadu president Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that even as it welcomed the review undertaken on behalf of the country’s President by the Governor, the party would come to power with people’s mandate.

On whether Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s review with top officials in the city for the President would be accepted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she told mediapersons, “If such a review was for the welfare of the people, the party will definitely welcome it”.She pointed out that even ministers in Tamil Nadu had welcomed the review and did not understand why certain political parties were against it.

The Governor was functioning according to the given mandate and Opposition parties were criticising as if he had convened the Assembly, she added. On DMK working president M K Stalin’s remarks that theGovernor should stop such reviews, Tamilisai said critics were least bothered about people’s welfare.

Told that Modi as Chief Minister had blamed the Congress when the Governor held such review in Gujarat, she said, “It is not fair to link these two incidents.””We will rule Tamil Nadu, not through the Governor, but capturing power in the elections,” she added.

About the recent income-tax department raids, Tamailsai said: “Jayalalithaa herself would have been shocked and surprised toknow about the wealth amassed by her close aides.”

She added that deposed AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran was showing ‘false courage’ with regard to the raids.
