Dejected over the conditions laid by wife over liquor, a labourer committed suicide by hanging in his house in Saravanampatti in the city.

The 30-year old Vinodh was an alcoholic, who refrained from going to work, which was the reason for husband and wife to pick up a quarrel frequently, police said.

In the pretext of going for work, Vinodh went out yesterday and returned home after consuming liquor in the evening. The wife, who saw the husband in an inebriated condition abused him and went out in a huff, police said.

On returning, she saw Vinodhi hanging from the ceiling of the house in the early hours. Her screams alerted the neighbours, who informed the police, who rushed to the spot.

The body was recovered and sent for post mortem and further investigations were on, they said.
