Xiaomi launches Redmi 5A

Xiaomi, which has become number one brand in smart phone, with a shipping of 9.2 million phone in the third quarter of 2017, on Wednesday launched Redmi 5A in the city.

Priced at Rs.4,999, the phone come with a metallic matte finish and features a dedicated micro SD card slot for storage expansion, Xiaomi Regional Business Head South and East Sunil Baby told reporters at the launch.

The company is offering the 2GB +16GB storage variant for the first five million units and will be available from 12 noon on Thursday through Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home followed by offline retailers including Mi preferred Partners in the subsequent weeks, he said,

With a market share of 23.5 per cent and having shipped 9.2 million smart phones in the quarters, the company has become the fastest growing smart phone brand in India with a growth rate of nearly 300 per cent year on year, Sunil said.
