Coimbatore Marathon 2015 attracts over 10,000 participants

More than 10,000 runners participated in the third edition of Coimbatore Marathon 2015, for cancer awareness. Sylendra Babu, the Coastal Security Group ADGP, flagged off the 21.1 km half marathon, which had over 1,300 participants.

The 10 km run, which had over 3,000 plus runners, was flagged off by Dr. T. Balaji, Managing Trustee of the Coimbatore Cancer Foundation, the joint organizers of the event. The 5 km run, with more than 6,400 runners, was flagged off by Mayor P. Rajkumar.

While more than 10,000 ran the marathons, thousands thronged the route early in the morning to cheer the runners. The entire route was lined up with hydration points, medical facilities, ambulance services, on-course entertainment, route markers, and organizers.

The winners of various races are:
Half Marathon (21.1 km)
Men: Soji Mathew (01:06:20), Murali, P. (01:08:58), Dasari Obulesu (1:09:36)
Women: R. Poonkodi (01:33:08), Vasanthamani (01.33.19), Sangeetha (01.50.52)

10 km marathon
Men: Vijay (00.32.26), Ramachandaran, R. (00.32.20), Satede Appala Naidu (00.32.51)
Women: Padmavathi, S. (00.39.26), Jothi, R. (00.39.56), Anu Priya, K. (00.42.04)
