Extending support to the striking lorry owners, Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) has accused the BJP of failing on its promise to remove toll plazas across the country. Lorry owners all over the country are on strike since October 1.

Talking to the reporters, PT president and MLA, Dr. K. Krishnasamy said that the Union Surface Transport minister Nitin Gadkari had promised to remove the toll plazas all over the country in a phased manner, but had failed to do so. This had forced the All India
Motor Transport Congress to resort to a nationwide indefinite strike, he said.

On DSP Vishnupriya’s suicide, Krishnasamy accused the police of helping Yuvaraj, the prime suspect in the mysterious death of Gokulraj. This was one of the cases that Vishnupriya was investigating prior to her suicide.

Krishnasamy also said that the Tamil Nadu state government must also hike the daily wages to plantation workers at places like Valparai, Mudis, Coonoor, Kothagiri, Mancholai, High Wavis, Yercaud, and Kanyakumari, to Rs.500 a day, following the demands of their counterparts in Munnar, Kerala, to increase their wages.

The party is planning to launch a series of protests all over Tamil Nadu starting next month, demanding that six different sub-sects be brought under one common caste of Devendra Kula Vellalar.
