Over the year, Puducherry Raj Nivas has addressed 13,075 complaints and provided amicable solution to these petitions, according to a statement.
Team Raj Nivas led by Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi has been receiving complaints directly from people daily between 5pm and 7 pm at its open house, and for Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam, a grievance hearing via video conference is held every Friday between 5 and 6 pm.
The complaints were through different sources, such as Open House 5,762, email or website 5,692, WhatsApp 1,632, newspaper reports and other sources.
The statement said maximum complaints, about 2,492, were on civic issues such as sanitation, sewage, garbage, silt, public nuisance, lack of power, street lights, encroachments, dog, cattle, pig menace, need for trees pruning, pot holes and bad roads.
The next highest was on service matters, such as postings, transfers, promotions, pensions, delays, regularisation of temporary appointments, non-filling of vacancies and backdoor employments The education department followed with issues concerning lack of teaching staff, school facilities, non-availability of a principal or a head master and other issues.
There were many other complaints regarding corruption, medical admissions, wastage in high mast lights, wrong tenders, faulty procedures, or wastage and delays in implementation of projects and neglect of built assets.
On the police front, it was mostly about rowdy extortions and threats and land-grabbing and frauds. Several other matters of nuisance by liquor shops, agricultural issues, road safety and family disputes were also submitted.
The grievance redressal team comprised Secretary to LG, private secretary, chief grievance officer, PRO, family counsellor, Lok Adalat para Legals and the Lt Governor.
She also visited the police Head Quarters in Puducherry and emphasised on the need to use technology optimally. She said welfare must include their families, even post retirement, and post care. Rewards must go to deserving officers based on records.
