Illegal sand mining in river Noyyal continues unabated

All through last night several lorry loads of sand were smuggled out of Noyyal river. The public in the area who were infuriated laid siege of the sand laden lorries. Though the drivers escaped, the people of Naadhegoundenpudur alleged that the law enforcers were in connivance with the politicians involved in smuggling and hence were not initiating any action.
