After heavy rains lashed catchment areas on Tuesday and Wednesday, water level in the Siruvani dam touched 40 feet on Thursday. The area recorded 130mm rain. With researchers at Tamil Nadu Agriculture University predicting more rains on Thursday and Friday, water level in the dam is expected to go up. Siruvani dam is the lifeline of Coimbatore and other surrounding villages. Currently, the Corporation supplies 8 to 9 crore litres of water from the dam to the city.
