Svanubhava fest at Anaikaty on Feb 22, 23

Coimbatore:Svanubhava 2018, a cultural extravaganza performed by tribal and underprivileged children studying at Vidya Vanam, Anaikatty, is to be held on February 22 and 23 on the school premises. A variety of music and dance forms from around the country will be performed. Besides, various Indian arts and crafts would also be exhibited.

A statement said Svanubhava aimed to create a community of students of the performing arts and instil in them a sense of ownership, belonging and pride. Students would get the chance to interact directly with accomplished artistes and performers of other art forms.

Vidya Vanam is dedicated to providing a holistic education and fear-free learning environment to first- generation learners of the local tribal and underprivileged population.

During the two-day event, Irula dances, Yakshagana, tholpavakuthu, kuchipudi, nadaswaram recital, a rhythm ensemble and oyilattam would be performed. Apart from this, there would be stalls showcasing arts and crafts ranging from Kurumba painting and Toda embroidery to Rajasthani lac bangles and Odia Patachitra paintings.

Food stalls would offer local cuisine of the Irulas to create awareness about the food of the region. Entry is free for all.
