Coimbatore : The remarks by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on linking the Cauvery with the Godavari were a clear indication that the BJP-led Government at the Centre was not not bothered to find an amicable solution to the vexed Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, a farmers’ association alleged today.

Gadkari made such remarks only to avoid a firm commitment on constituting Cauvery Mangement Board in six weeks as directed by the Supreme Court two weeks ago, Lower Bhavani Farmers Association president, C Nallasami told reporters here.

Gadkari had said 175 tmc water could be saved if the Cauvery and the Godavari were linked. This, he said, showed that the Centre was not keen to bring the issue to an end. Film actors should introspect before entering politics, he said.

Nallasami also said the Tamil Nadu Government owed an explanation to the public for installing the portrait of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, a convict in a case.
