‘About 65 p.c of unemployed people are below 35’

COIMBATORE: Around 65 per cent of the unemployed people in the country are less than 35 years of age, said S.N.A. Jinnah, Chief General Manager from NABARD.

Addressing Agronova – 2018, a State-level agricultural fest organised by the final year agriculture students of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University here on Saturday, Jinnah – an alumnus of the University – laid emphasis on 5Ps – People, Passion, Planet, Professionalism and Partnership. “Without putting in 100 per cent effort one cannot excel. While one should respect nature, he should also make efforts to work as a team that will help in profession of students and promotion for faculty members,” he said.

Jinnah, who was the chief guest of the fest, explained how Telengana became drought free through the rejuvenation of 41,000 irrigation tanks.

In his presidential address, Dr. S. Mahimairaja, Dean of the University, outlined about the theme of this year’s fest – A March to Retrieve the Reality. “We allow the students to organise such programmes every year so that their hidden talents come out,” he said.

Around 225 students from 23 colleges across Tamil Nadu participated in the fest.

The event was also attended by Dr. R. Murugesan, Director of Agri Business Development, Dean of Madurai Agricultural College, Dr.Suresh and Head of Departments.

Dr. A. Vijaya Kumar, Director of Student’s Welfare offered felicitations while Selvan Varunkumar Organising Secretary welcomed and A. Kavya proposed the vote of thanks.
