Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edapadi K Palanisamy today joined those seeking the resignation of MPs and MLAs from Tamil Nadu over Cauvery issue, saying that it was very difficult to solve the issue with all the MPs intact and one needs to consider will be the situation once they resign.

AIADMK MPs were fighting for the rights of the State in and outside Parliament for the last few days and there was political motive behind seeking the resignation of MPs, Palanisamy told reporters at the City Airport.

When it was difficult to solve the issue with all the MPs intact, what will be the situation, once they resigned, he sought to know.

Stating that the State has put forward the arguments before the Court for 13 days, he said that DMK, whi ch has done nothing on the Cauvery issue, was criticising to seek political mileage.

Had the DMK, which was in power in both the State and Centre, taken steps immediately after the verdict in 2007, there would not be any problem now, he said

The state will continue to seek to constitute Cauvery Management Board and the monitoring committee, he said.

When pointed out that Congress President, Rahul Gandhi had forgiven the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, Palanisamy said that the Government has to work as per the law. Efforts can be taken (for the release of the convict), if there was way in legal framework, he said.
