COIMBATORE: Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) on Wednesday urged the Tamil Nadu Government not to allow the conduct of IPL match to be played in Chennai on April 10.

In a statement KMDK General Secretary E.R. Eswaran said that the situation in Tamil Nadu was very fluid due to various agitations over the issue of formation of Cauvery Management Board for the last few days. “Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, by whose name the present Government is swearing, ordered not to allow a match between India and Sri Lanka in Chepauk,” he recollected.

Stating that the Cauvery agitation across the State should not be allowed to dilute, due to the popular IPL matches, Eswaran urged the Government to not to give permission to conduct the matches.

“As the agitation is likely to continue till the Board was constituted, if the ongoing protests are any indication, there is all the likelihood that the youth, students and other activists take over the stadium to organise agitation, as was done at the Marina for the Jallikattu, to mount pressure on the Centre,” he said.

The situation also warrant such agitations to spread across the State, leading to law and order problem going out of control of the Government, Eswaran cautioned.
