Kochi: Eight-year-old Aaron was hungry and his attempts to seek the help of his parents were in vain as their quarrel had led to his father killing his mother.

Unable to find food anywhere in the house when his parents were engaged in a domestic quarrel in a closed bedroom, he knocked at the door several times, but no one bothered to answer his call. He could hear their heated arguments and intermittent cries of his mother Soumya as like on any other day. This continued for sometime and then there was complete silence. He thought the fighting was over and the door would open soon. But that did not happen.

He finally called up his grandmother Sheela over phone to tell her that he was hungry and that her parents were not answering his calls. Immediately, Sheela phoned up her daughter, but there was no reply. She got the shock of her life when she contacted her son-in-law Lyju who told her that he had killed Soumya.

Sheela and husband Joseph reached the place in no time and alerted the neighbours. Police who force-opened the door found Soumya, 33, lying lifeless in a pool of blood in the bathroom while Lyju was on the verge of death with his wrist slashed in a bid to end his life, police said.

Lyju, 38, was rushed to a private hospital in Chalakkudy where his condition is stated to be critical. Techies Lyju and Soumya were working in a nearby IT park. Lyju was working in the US and had quit the job a few years back to take up another one at an IT park at Koratty near Thrissur.

The motive behind the murder that occured on Tuesday evening is not known, reports said.
