KOTTAYAM: Seventy-five per cent polling was recorded at Chengannur in Kerala on Monday that witnessed a triangular contest between the ruling Left front, Congress-led UDF and the BJP.
While Congress fielded D. Vijayakumar, CPI-M fielded Saji Cherian and BJP Sreedharan Pillai.
While the Congress has won from the constituency six times, the CPI-M twice and the CPI once since 1947. The BJP has emerged as an important party this time.
