Tirupur knitwear exporters thank TN for e-way bill exemption

Coimbatore : Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) today thanked Tamil Nadu Government for exemptiing them from generation of e-way bill for job work and services relating to yarn, fabrics and garments. In a statement, TEA president Raja M Shanmugham said he had sent a letter to Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy for conceding the request of the association in this regard.

Tirupur knitwear cluster had grown to this level and produced Rs 42,000 crore worth of garments annually because of the crucial support extended by job working units, he said. Before garment was packed, for preliminary process like knitting, dyeing, compacting, embroidery, printing, checking, ironing and packing, it was transported from one place to another place at least six times.

Letters were also sent to Commercial Taxes Minister K C Veeramani and Principal Secretary and Commissioner of State Tax Dr T V Somanathan for their support.
