Bengaluru: As rains subsided considerably in Kodagu on Monday evening, it has left a trail of destruction throughout the district. While thousands of them have lost their homes, a few fortunate are horrified at the sight of what was once their dear home.

The houses that have braved the rain wrath are a picture of a slush pool. It literally looks like a slushy field and not to speak of stench emanating from it. Although the State government has announced Rs 2 lakh to those who have lost their houses in the rain fury, it would take them many months – perhaps – in rebuilding their lives.

Meanwhile, the Kodagu district administration has appealed to send all the relief materials and vehicles carrying them to APMC yard in Madikeri. The relief materials will be segregated according to the category and a team deployed by the district administration will redistribute the materials through panchayats.

A communique in this regard has been issued by the district administration.

The district administration has issued a list of materials required by the flood-hit people in shelter homes. The materials sought out by the district administration are plastic buckets and mugs, rain coats, warm clothing, regular clothes, slippers and gumboots.
