Bengaluru: The inmates of Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons in Bengaluru have decided to forgo their Friday’s non-vegetarian food to gather fund for Kodagu victims.

In a letter written to Chief Minister, the inmates have requested the government to utilise the money that will be spent on non-vegetarian food on every Fridays, to help the people of Kodagu, reports Prajavani.

Every Friday, non-vegetarian food is served to the 4,500 inmates of Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons at a cost Rs 2 lakh. But moved by the plight of Kodagu people, the inmates have decided to forgo their non-vegetarian food, reports Prajavani quoting a jail official.

In fact, this is not the first time that the inmates are showing this gesture. In 2004, when Tamil Nadu was hit by Tsunami, the inmates had quit non-vegetarian food for four Fridays and had managed to donate Rs 8 lakh towards Tsunami relief fund.
