The former Superintendent of Police of Coimbatore District, Pa Moorthy who was in a private car, in a civil dress, is alleged to have engaged in an altercation with Nadimuthu, a constable at the Anakarai check post in Thanjavur district for doing his duty. The car the family had traveled reportedly sped past the cars standing in the check post and had objected to checking. The SP’s wife who is also alleged to have abused the cop is seen shooting the sequence in another check post just to absolve themselves of any wrong doing. The constable in question has been transferred to Armed Reserve for doing his job and policemen across the State have expressed a feeling of being let down by the Department.
