Filmstar Vijay and his film Sarkar, released early morning on Tuesday, ran into fresh trouble over couple of controversial scenes sparking off a demand from the ruling dispensation to the filmmaker to delete the offending portions.

The film was released globally on Tuesday and within few hours the state government raised the red flag over few controversial scenes that could be construed an unflattering remark on the chief minister Edapaddi Palaniswami.

In a state where politics and films are intertwined intricately, this was not taken lightly by the state government. A state minister for information Kadambur Raju demanded the deletion of controversial scenes in Sarkar. The film makers should delete the scenes voluntarily or face action.

He said that action would be taken in consultation with the chief minister.

Actor Vijay, who has been making political noises and has ambitions to enter the political arena at some stage, has been making films that are heavily political in nature. His recent film took digs at the ruling party and the current political situation in the state.

Sarkar is being viewed as a political launch pad for the movie star. In this context, the reaction of the ruling party appears natural as a political aspirant is seen to be using his stardom to create a perception about the government.

The ruling party takes serious objection to this.
