College student impregnates friend; arrested

A third year engineering student was arrested for impregnating a 20-year old girl and refusing to marry her as promised.
The girl, a native of Annur village, was employed in a private firm. She fell in love with Santosh Kumar, an engineering student. He promised to marry her and had reportedly indulged in physical relationship with her.
When the girl became pregnant, she asked him to marry her, but he said that he was still a student and that she will have to wait for the marriage. He then took her to a hospital and had aborted the pregnancy. Santosh Kumar later began to threaten her. Angered and upset by the turn of events, the girl filed a complaint with the All Women Police station in Thudiyalur.
The student was arrested based on the complaint.
