Police help sought to bring back converted daughter

Coimbatore : A 50-year-old woman on Tuesday sought the district police intervention to restore her daughter, who converted into Christianty.

In her petition to the Superintendent of Police, Munirathnam of Arasur on the outskirts said her daughter Poongothai had left for Tiruchirapallli, along with her two friends, saying she had got a job in a private firm there.

Munirathnam was surprised to notice that her daughter was wearing a chain with a cross when she came last week. When asked, Poongothai said she had converted to Christianity.

Based on the complaint, police officials in Sulur station called Poongothai, who said she had converted on her own. She being a major, police closed the case.

However, Munirathnam insisted that her daughter was forced to convert and sought police intervention to get her aughter back.
