A woman was tragically killed when motorcycle-bound chain-snatchers attempted to rob her of her gold chains. Two men on motorcycle tried to snatch gold chains from woman at Panamarathur on Wednesday.

Victim Meenakshi (37), was the wife of Jokappan and was a resident of Veerakulam. The couple’s son, Rahul, was not well and Meenakshi was returning home yesterday after taking him to the hospital.

Two chain-snatchers came on a motorcycle and hit Meenakshi’s scooter from behind, which resulted in her fall. The men tried to snatch her chain away but by then the crowds had started to gather. The snatchers fled the spot.

Meenakshi was rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. She died in the morning today. Further investigations are on.
