The youth wing of the Adithamizhar Party on Sunday protested near the Coimbatore South Taluk Office demanding actions against a teacher for the alleged caste-based discrimination against a student in Namakkal.

A school teacher in the Ramapurampudhur elementary school had allegedly asked a Dalit student of Class 2 to clean human wastes inside the school. The protesting members demanded that the teacher should be immediately suspended from the job and be punished under the SC-ST Act.

Nandhan Thambi, the secretary of the party said that Dalits are still being discriminated against in schools and colleges all over Tamil Nadu. “The current law needs to be implemented strictly in the state to reduce discrimination,” he said.

He further added that the SC/ST cases, which are pending in the courts, should be heard immediately. “The government should make sure that such things do not happen in the future,” he opined.
