Periyar statue in Coimbatore coloured saffron by unidentified persons, Periyar followers enraged

A periyar statue near Sundarapuram in Coimbatore was coloured in saffron by unidentified persons after a rift broke out between Periyar followers and right wingers. Kuniamuthur police personnel arrived at the spot and pacified the enraged followers promising action against the culprits.
