The pastor, who was arrested three months ago for sexually assaulting a teenaged girl, was detained under the Goondas Act today.

Police had arrested pastor Aruldas, who runs an orphanage and prayer halls in Kothagiri, Coonoor and Mettupalayam, on August 31, after parents of a 17-year-old girl filed a complaint that he had sexually assaulted and tortured her.

He was kept in the Coonoor sub-jail. Considering Aruldas’ involvement in such activities, the Nilgiris district collector P. Shankar ordered his detention under the Goondas Act.

Aruldas will be shifted to the Coimbatore Central Prison after serving the orders.
