The international Paralympic Games held in France last August and September showcased an outstanding performance by Indian athletes, with Tamil Nadu making a significant contribution. Sixteen athletes from Tamil Nadu represented the country, and the Indian contingent secured a total of 29 medals. Among the winners, Tulsi Mathi clinched a silver medal in badminton, while Nityashree and Manisha won bronze medals in the same event. In athletics, Mariappan added another silver to the tally.

The medalists were congratulated by Engineer R. Chandrasekar, Vice President of the Paralympic Committee of India and President of the Tamil Nadu Paralympic Association, for their remarkable achievements.

The athletes expressed their gratitude to Chandrasekar for his unwavering support and for providing essential training facilities for differently-abled athletes. Since his appointment as the State President of the Paralympic Association in 2020, Chandrasekar has been instrumental in organizing various competitions in Coimbatore and Chennai, ensuring that differently-abled athletes receive proper training for regional, state, and national level competitions.

“With more support and training, our differently-abled athletes are demonstrating their talents like never before on international stages,” said Chandrasekar, promising continued assistance to help disabled players excel in their respective sports.
