Coimbatore donates Rs.1.37 crore aid to Chennai

Relief items worth Rs.1.37 crores have been gathered and sent by Coimbatoreans to the flood-affected areas of Chennai and Cuddalore.

Coimbatoreans have largely contributed for the relief and rescue works in the flood-affected regions of Chennai and Cuddalore from the very beginning. Apart from the government officials, many NGOs have given their share to the relief material that were gathered with the help of the people.

In this regard, No Food Waste, an NGO, and Susai Appar Training Institute have jointly sent up to Rs.1.37 crore worth relief materials from Coimbatore. The members of the organizations have been collecting items including bread, rice, biscuits, water, pulses, dresses, and napkins from various areas. The material, weighing about 270 tons, was rushed to Chennai in 32 trucks. The members have also been directly involved in distributing the relief articles in Chennai and Cuddalore.

Meanwhile, members of the Tamil Nadu Government Workers Association have sent Rs.7 lakhs worth relief articles to Cuddalore on Wednesday. Members of Dr. Ambedkar Government and Public Sector SC/ST Employees Welfare Association have donated a cheque of Rs.10,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
