Family attempts to rob woman, caught red handed

In a daring attempt, two sisters and their husbands, who attempted to rob a sexagenarian woman, were caught red-handed near Soolakkal bus stop in Pollachi on Saturday.

According to police, the intended victim S. Parvathy (68), a resident of Min Nagar in Pollachi was travelling back home after visiting the Soolakkarai Mariamman temple. While she was waiting at the bus stand around 9.30 am, a group comprising of S. Bharathi (29), her husband M. Shankar (40), her sister A. Karpagam (23), and her husband P. Arjun (29), all from Samayapuram, Trichy, confronted her, and demanded money.Shankar and Arjun were selling toys in the area.

However, their attempt was foiled by the public, who were in the area, and they were caught red-handed and handed over to the Vadakkipalayam police station. They were booked under IPC 384.
