Five taken into custody for hurling stones at train

Five teenagers were arrested today, for hurling stones at a train near Rathnapuri in the city, resulting in serious head injuries to a nine-year old passenger.

Anilkumar, a passenger from Thiruvananthapuram, proceeding to Ramagundam had lodged a complaint that some persons had hurled stones at the train and his son Aromal had sustained bleeding injuries last night while travelling between North Coimbatore and Peelamedu Stations in the city.

The family of the boy got down at Tirupur and the boy was given first aid at a private hospital, railway police said.

Based on the complaint, police investigated and took five teenagers into custody today for interrogation, they said.
