To promote reading habit among the public, Isha Foundation celebrated World Book Day on April 23.

A release from the organisation stated that more than 180 stalls selling books at a subsidised price were put up in public places in various villages and districts across the state.

Isha Foundation distributed 25,000 free teaser books compiling excerpts from various books to the public. More than 500 volunteers from all across Tamil Nadu took part in these activities.

This foundation also donated books worth Rs.36-lakhs to nine Government libraries that got damaged during the recent floods in Chennai.

Isha Foundation joined hands with Indian Academic Librarian Association (IALA) and organised an essay writing competition for college students.

Students from around 150 colleges in the state participated in this contest. Winners were awarded with prizes at the valedictory function that was recently organised.
