Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the counting of votes polled in the just concluded assembly
elections in 10 constituencies in the district.

Even as the EVMs of the seven constituencies, which have been kept at GCT are brought under four-tier security, adequate number of police and para military forces have been deployed to keep strict vigil and to prevent any eventualities, official sources said.

There will be traffic diversion on Thadagam Road, where GCT is situated, from morning six to evening six, police said.

The district has 2011 polling stations and total votes will be counted in 202 rounds, each constituency having 14 tables, except Kaundampalayam with 20 tables.

Mettupalayam has 312 polling stations with 23 rounds, Sulur 314 stations 23 rounds, Kaundampalayam 407 rounds, Coimbatore North 285, 19 rounds, Thondamuthur 264 and 19, Coimbatore South 256 and 19 rounds, Singanallur 317 polling stations in 23 rouonds, Kinathukadavu 280 and 20 rounds, Pollachi 256 polling stations and 19 rounds and Valparai 220 polling station in 16 rounds.

The first result is expected to be announced around 11 AM.
