Girl run over by train near Mettupalayam

A 21-year old girl student was run over by a train near Mettupalayam yesterday, when she was attempting to cross the railway track, police said on Wednesday.
Ramapriya, a biotechnology student in a private college here, was returning to her
grandfather’s house after college hours by bus. She got down at Velankanni bus stop on
Mettupalayam-Karamadai road, some 35 km from here, they said.
In order to reach her home, she attempted to cross the railway track, without noticing the Nilgiris Express approaching her. Before she realised, she was run over by the train, police said.
