City school plans to set 29 world records

A city-based school has planned to set a series of world records between August 3 and 7 to commemorate its 34th annual year.

The Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School has planned 29 world records, out of which 12 would be team records attempted by a group of students from LKG to 12th Standard and 17 individuals ones.

Giving out details, the school correspondent, P. Ramakrishnan, told reporters here today that August 3 being the Mahasamadhi day of Swami Chinamayananda, the founder of the school, around 1,089 students would wear Chinmayananda mask at the same time in a single venue. “It will be a record,” he said.

“A large number of people will chant the Psalm simultaneously for two hours. One team will be involved in 516-metre finger painting, 417 students will dress up like Lord Krishna and 640 students will paint national flag simultaneously at a single venue, during the five-day event, titled World Record Festival 2016,” Ramakrishnan said.

Individual attempts include a cycling marathon by a 16-year-old-boy for 28 hours, stomach run by two wheeler motor cycles in 30 minutes by a 16-year student, its principal, Mayadevi said. The school proposed to enter the four global world record books – Elite world record (UK) Private ltd, Asian Records Academy, Singapore, India Record Academy, Mumbai and Tamilan Book of Records, Chennai, Ramakrishnan added.
