Jewellery worth Rs. 27 lakhs and cash of Rs. 2 lakh were burgled in two separate incidents in Tirupur district.

Subramanian, an industrialist had gone to the temple with his family yesterday, after handing over the key to one Ravi, who was carrying out some repair works in the house in Cherangadu. Upon returning home late night, Subramanian found 92 sovereign jewellery and Rs.1.5 lakh cash missing from the almirah. Ravi was not to be seen.

In the second incident, burglars broke open the house of one Kamaraj in Kolinjivadi near Dharapuram and decamped with 32 sovereign jewels worth Rs. seven lakh and Rs.60,000 cash.

Police have formed two special teams to investigate the robbery.
