A city-based company has designed a device that would identify vehicles that violate rules at signals. The integrated smart traffic control system would send the details of such vehicles to the server immediately and details of the violator would be retrieved using the camera at the signals. The device would soon be installed at a signal near Saravanampatti.

M. Mohamed Irfan of the Best Advertisements Agency, that has designed the device, said it would help identify signal violations, real time signal status, live audio announcements, make green corridor for ambulances and accurate data of the violating vehicle.

“There will be a small censor on the stop line with a rubber lid and whenever a person crosses it, it would send a signal to the server. The details of the violator can be retrieved using the camera at the signal. Once the centralised system is installed and all the signals covered, real time monitoring and providing green corridor for ambulances will become simple,” he added

According to a senior police official, the department would utilise the system based on its success at Saravanampatti.

“This is a new system. If the department finds it useful, we will not hesitate to replace the present ones with the new ones,” he added.
