Close to the heels of an attempt to cut and smuggle sandalwood trees in the heart of the city a couple of days ago, three full grown sandalwood trees were axed and taken out from a private farm in Podanur in the city.

Shanmugam, who was growing three sandal wood trees, which stood tall at 20 feet in his farmland was shocked to notice the trees axed and taken away this morning.

Based on Shanmugam’s complaint, Podanur police have registered a case.

A couple of days ago, miscreants had axed two trees at Race Course in the heart of the city. However, they could not take it out thanks to an alert security guard of a nearby star hotel.
