The manufacturing sectors, ‘Make in India’, and proposal to start smart cities and towns, will facilitate plenty of job opportunities to management and engineering graduates. Job market is good. But youth lack employability skills, K. Raghunandanan, Joint General Manager, Coimbatore Central Management, Larsen and Toubro, Coimbatore, said here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the inauguration of the post-graduate, MBA, MCA and ME courses for the academic year 2015-16 at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, he pointed out that employability skills should be nurtured while at college. Industry-institute tie-ups could go a long way in making this happen.

He urged students to develop the six skills sets that were essential to excel in personal and professional life, namely, passion, building relationships, good communication, high energy level, value based activity and knowing the power of systems.

Highlighting the significance of entrepreneurship, he urged students to start new businesses / industry because they had enough knowledge and courage for that. However, he said that it was not enough to be different and innovative in business, it was also essential to be ethical and law-abiding in conducting it.
