1.79 lakh new vehicles registered in Covai

The 11 Road Transport Offices in Coimbatore saw 1.79 lakh new vehicles getting registered during the first seven months of 2015.
To match with the increase in population, there is also a hike in the count of vehicles in Coimbatore region. There are 11 RTOs and 4 unit offices in Coimbatore, Mettupalyam, Pollachi, Tirupur, Dharapuram, and Ooty. These offices offer services including issuing of license, registration of vehicles, RC renewal, and change of ownership.
Surprisingly, 1.79 lakh vehicles have been registered between January and July 2015 in Coimbatore. Of these, 6402 are hiring vehicles like trucks, maxi cabs, taxis, and omni buses. The number of non-transport vehicles (meant for personal use) like cars, motorbikes, scooters, etc. stands at 1,73,082. July witnessed the highest number of registration, at 30,749. The least number of registrations was in April, at 16180.
