Members of the All India Youth Federation petitioned the City Commissioner of Police to ban the circulation of banned lottery tickets in the city.

According to the petition, the circulation of single digit lottery tickets has increased in Coimbatore in the recent past. “Many verbal complaints have been made with the police so far and yet the business thrives,” the petition read.

It added that the lives of middle class families were affected because of lottery ticket addiction. “We request the Commissioner to curb the sale immediately and arrest the perpetrators,” read the petition.

Save Indians working in Middle East, petition

The members also filed a separate petition with the district administration asking them to request the Central government to safeguard Indian nationals working in Arab countries.

They claimed that Indians were subjected to torture by their employers in the Middle East and claimed that any efforts that the Centre made towards rescuing them was unsatisfactory.
