Watery grave for three women

Three women fell to their death in a 50-ft deep well last evening at Samathur, 40 km from here.
According to police, Balamani (57), who had gone to a farm to pluck leaves as fodder for her goats, accidentally fell into the well. Her accomplice Bhagyam (50) also fell into the well while trying to save her.
Seeing this, another woman, Mallika (45) called Balamani’s husband over phone and informed about the incident. She jumped into the well to rescue the duo. All the three drowned and died, police said.
The bodies have been sent for post mortem.
