TNSTC directed to pay Rs. 24 lakh compensation to accident victim’s wife

Thanjavur: The Motor Accident Case Claims Tribunal in Thanjavur ordered the Managing Director of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Kumbakonam Division, to pay a compensation of Rs 24.10 lakhs to the wife of a school teacher who died in a road accident in 2015.

According to prosecution, 35-year-old Victor, resident of Kavaavadakara street , Keezhavaasal area in Thanjavur, was proceeding to Tiruvarur in a motorbike with his friend Needhirajan on June 25, 2015.

When the two wheeler was on the road near the seed farm at Kaakka Kottur village it collided with a State-owned transport corporation (TNSTC) bus, killing both Victor and Needhirajan on the spot.

Victor’s wife Rosy (29) filed a petition before the Motor Accident Case Claims Tribunal in Thanjavur praying direction to the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation to pay compensation.

Principal sub judge Poorna Jaya Anand, delivering his verdict in the case yesterday, ordered the Managing Director of TNSTC, Kumbakonam Division, to pay a compensation of Rs 24,10,020 to Rosy.
