Kongunadu Jananayaka Katchi (KJK) today appealed to Tamil film actors to adopt villages in the State, which had been deprived of basic amenities for long.

KJK Founder President, G K Nagaraj quoted examples of Tamil actor Prakash Raj who had adopted Mehaboob Nagar in Telangana, Telugu actor Mahesh Babu and Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had adopted villages in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

Stating that there were hundreds of villages in Tamil Nadu, which lacked basic infrastructure,
amenities like drinking water and toilets, Nagaraj said that the children in these villages
were deprived of quality education and medical facilities.

Besides, many of the women folk in these villages were suffering because of alcoholic husbands, he claimed. Since actors have many young fans from rural areas, actors should at least ensure they got basic facilities by adopting their villages, he said.

Actors who were popular in other States should also come forward to adopt villages to ensure their prosperity, he added.
