The Deputy Chief Minister of Penang, Malaysia, P. Ramasamy has demanded an international inquiry into the war crimes that were committed against the Tamils in Sri Lanka, adding that an internal probe was ‘not justifiable.’

Stressing that the world countries put pressure on the United Nations to conduct an international probe into the genocide, he said, “It is not justifiable to have own probe against those who were responsible for the genocide in the nation.” He was speaking to the reporters at the Coimbatore airport.

Ramasamy had accompanied MDMK leader Vaiko to Tirupur to look into the preparatory works for the party’s much-awaited conference in Palladam onSeptember 15. In the current political scenario, with the relationships between MDMK and DMK running into rough weathers following the defection of key members of the former to the latter, the meeting has acquired special significance.
