Two persons employed with a goldsmith were arrested today for their involvement in a robbery of over one kilo of jewellery.

According to police, Saravanakumar, one of the workers, on March 20 last, complained that four masked men had entered the workshop and decamped with jewellery when he had stepped out for tea at around 3.30 a.m.

Police, while checking the CCTV footage, found that no such incident took place. During interrogation, they found that Saravanakumar had cooked up the story along with his colleague to save himself.

Both of them later confessed to their crime. Police recovered the booty which they had buried in a graveyard.
