11 hurt as bus, lorry collide near Eachanari

Eleven people were injured when a private bus collided with a lorry near Eachanari this morning. However, none of them, passengers in the bus, suffered major injuries.

According to police, the driver of the bus from Tenkasi to Coimbatore lost control and collided with the lorry from Kochi to Coimbatore. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals and the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Madukkarai police have filed a complaint and investigation is on.

Residents said the number of accidents in the area had gone up and cited speed of vehicles as the reason. They also wanted the police to take steps for speed control of the vehicles.
