120 elder persons honoured

As many as 120 elder citizens were today honoured by the District Administration, to mark World Elders Day.
Organised by the District Social Welfare Department, District Revenue Officer, T. Christuraj honoured those who crossed 90 years of age and presented articles worth Rs.1,000
to each of them.
The articles included umbrella, shawl, towel and a torch, an official release said here.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Christuraj called for a society where we could do away with senior citizen homes.
